France, Italy, Zambia: Speed Cameras Trashed
Dozens of speed cameras were painted, grabbed, burned and blown up across Africa and Europe last week.

In Pouilly-sous-Charlieu, France, on Saturday, the speed camera on the D482 was painted in the colors of the French flag, Le Progres reported. According to the same publication, black paint was used to take out the speed camera in Saint-Forgeux-Lespinasse last week, while patriotic blue, white and red paint was used on the camera in Pouilly-sous-Charlieu. The Saint-Romain-le-Puy camera was set on fire. On Thursday, orange paint took out the D1017 speed camera in Peronne, according to Courrier Picard. Yssingeaux's oft-attacked speed camera on the D103 was painted white on Saturday along with the camera on the RD590 in Ceyssac-la-Roche and in Puy-en-Velay, Le Progres reported. In Les Mazures, gray spraypaint took out a pair of speed cameras last week Sunday, L'Ardennais reported. On the RD910 in Toulois on Friday, yellow paint in the form of a peace symbol was used to blind the speed camera, L'Est Republicain reported.

In Buttigliera d'Asti, Italy, vigilantes knocked over four of the small town's six bright orange "Velo OK" brand speed cameras, Torino Repubblica reported. In Sora, an explosive device was used to blast a speed camera on the highway to Ferentino, leaving debris strewn across several feet on the roadway. According to Ciociaria Editoriale Oggi, the vigilantes took the device's internal electronic hardware.

In Lusaka, Zambia, the speed camera on the Great East Road went missing last week. According to Zambia Reports, some have suspected police officers may have taken the automated ticketing machine in order to preserve their jobs.
