France: Speed Cameras Painted And Burned
French vigilantes continue to take out speed cameras in protest of the lowering of speed limits that took effect in July.

Vigilantes in France have not let up in their fight against the lowering of speed limits on secondary roads. On Thursday, the speed camera on the D923 in Coulonges-les-Sablons was set on fire, L'Action Republicaine reported. Not long after that, the camera over on the D932 in Captieux was painted orange with "for sale" written on the side, according to Le Republicain Sud-Gironde. Police in the Yvelines department have no clue who has been taking out the speed cameras. On Wednesday, the speed camera on the D446 in Jouy-en-Josas was disabled, joining four other cameras recently taken out of service with orange paint, joining similar attacks since August 27 on the D308 in Mesnil-le-Roi, on the N184 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on the A13 in Guerville and on the D983 in Mantes-la-Ville, 78 Actu reported.

Pink was the favored shade for vigilantes in the Nord department, as the camera on the A21 in Courcelles-les-Lens was blinded early in the week, according to La Voix du Nord. The same shade was used on two other nearby cameras in the prior week. The speed camera on the A1 in Seclin was burned, according to ContactFM. So too was the camera on the D654 in Sierck-les-Bains, which Republicain Lorrain says was completely burned out on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, a speed camera in Longchamp was rammed, Vosges Matin reported. The speed camera on the D928 in Wamin was set on fire. According to France Bleu, orange paint took out the speed camera on the RN57 in Quenoche early in the week.
