France: Profit Tumbles As Damage To Speed Cameras Continues
Vigilante action against speed cameras means French government expects to lose $500 million in revenue in 2019.

Bent speed cameraThe French government will not be collecting the one billion euros (US $1.1 billion) in profit it had been expecting in 2019. Revised budget documents show that speed cameras are now expected to generate between 500 and 600 million euros (US$550 to $650 million) in 2019, Les Echos reported. Credit for the change in automated fortune goes to the Yellow Vest protest movement, which destroyed photo radar devices at a rapid pace. French officials have responded by budgeting for the installation of 1200 upgraded "turret" radars by the end of 2020. The cost of these replacement devices is also cutting into the government's profit margins.

On September 29, Green paint was used to blind the newly installed speed camera on the D155 near Lecousse. In Wasquehal, red was the color of choice to take out the speed camera on the D656.
