West Viginia House Votes 88-3 to Ban Cameras
West Virginia's House of Delegates votes swiftly and overwhelmingly to ban red light and speed cameras.

West Virginia lawmakers want the vendors who sell red light cameras and speed cameras to take their business elsewhere. A bill banning any form of photographic ticketing in the state sped through the House of Delegates yesterday with an 88-3 vote. The Judiciary Committee had unanimously approved the legislation just two days earlier after the transportation panel amended the measure to make the ban's language even stronger.

The swift and overwhelming enactment of the measure in the House is also meant to send a message of disapproval to Steubenville, Ohio which has been mailing $85 tickets to West Virginia residents weeks after they had passed through. The camera ban will now be considered by the state Senate.
