New Jersey: Impound Charge Imposed on Crash Victim Family
The family of a fatal accident is being charged an impound fee for the vehicle in which their teenage son died.

John BurzichelliPolice in Bellmawr, New Jersey wants Bob and Kathy Corsini to pay $640.90 in impound fees because a lot has stored the vehicle in which Kathy's eighteen-year-old son Daniel Mackay was killed in a tragic accident on June 4. Daniel's 1992 Honda, driven by a family friend, crashed on I-295.

Police handed the damaged Honda over to Paul's Towing which imposed fees of $245 for storage, $225 for recovery, $95 for towing, $45 for labor and $30.90 for tax. Each day the car stayed there, the total bill increased.

State Assemblyman John Burzichelli now wants legislation to impose a 30-day moratorium on such fees for the families of fatal accident victims.
