North Carolina: Man Receives Bogus Red Light Camera Ticket
Old Fort, North Carolina man fights red light camera ticket from Wilmington, a city he has not visited since he was seven.

Red light cameraOld Fort, North Carolina resident Leonard Hensley received a red light camera ticket from the city of Wilmington, a place he last visited when he was 7 years old. Wilmington demanded $50 for the ticket plus an extra $50 late fee, even though the camera ticket was obviously faulty. Hensley drives a dark green 1977 Toyota pickup truck, but the camera ticket shows a gray Ford truck.

"I told them if they didn't straighten it out, I was going to send them a bill," Hensley told the Asheville Citizen-Times. "I just wonder how many people get bills like this and pay them without regard to whether it was their vehicle or not?"

Peek Traffic, the for-profit contractor that operates Wilmington's camera program, admitted, "We're not perfect." The program generates more than a million dollars a year.
