UK: More Speed Camera Errors Uncovered
The Mirror (UK) uncovers more speed camera errors.
Steve Lucas, a twenty year old UK law student faced an automatic suspension of his license when a speed camera accused him of driving 115MPH. To prove his own innocence, he took his Fiat Punto to a race track. The car's engine, which makes less than 80HP, could not reach 115 MPH.
In 2004, Kris Haskins, deputy mayor of Portland Dorset, received a speed camera ticket for doing 51 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. Except he wasn't. He used his own technical analysis of the speed camera photo to establish that he was actually driving 13 MPH.
