Huddersfield, UK Speed Cameras Have Not Reduced Accidents
Fatal accidents in Huddersfield, UK are up slightly despite a massive increase in the number of speeding tickets issued.

M62A 2500 percent increase in the number of speeding tickets issued in Huddersfield, UK has not led to any increase in safety after a comparison of accident data.

Last year, speed cameras were responsible for generating £5,695,380 (US $10.4 million) in revenue from 94,923 tickets issued. In 1999, before cameras were installed, police issued only 3789 speeding tickets.

In 1999, there were 111 road fatalities in Huddersfield. In 2004, there were 116 fatalities. During the same period, the number of police patrolling area roads dropped twenty percent from 313 to 252.
