France: Speed Cameras Under Siege
Vigilantes destroyed or damaged about a dozen speed cameras in France last week.

Wrapped speed camera
In Seyches, France, vigilantes on Sunday torched the speed camera that had been issuing automated tickets on the RD933. On Saturday, a pair of speed cameras on the RN31 in Muizon and near Prouilly were blinded by being carefully wrapped in black plastic film. Vigilantes on Wednesday used black spraypaint to blind the speed camera in Firmi. On Tuesday, the turret speed camera installed in Etoile-sur-Rhone was chopped down and set ablaze less than 24 hours after it had been installed. The same fate befell four speed cameras in Pont-de-Labeaume, Viviers, Peaugres and Assions. On January 5, the turret speed camera on the RD6009 in Peyriac-de-Mer was cut down. Around the same time, flames damaged the speed camera on the D513 near Bavent. The speed camera on the RN88 in Lescure-d'Albigeois was set on fire last week. The speed camera on the RD570 in Tarascon was cut down with a grinder.
