UK: Speed Camera Vigilantes Continue to Baffle PolicePolice in Cornwall, UK have no idea who set a speed camera on fire three weeks ago.
Vigilantes eliminated a speed camera in Cornwall, UK at 2am on August 20. A black bag now covers the charred remains of the ticketing device at Roseworthy Dip on the A30 near the town of Camborne. Vigilantes had set the machine on fire with gasoline and met with greater success than an attempt made at the same location on May 3, 2005.
The Devon and Cornwall Speed Camera Partnership, upset at the lost revenue, must also spend £50,000 (US $101,000) to replace the unit. After three weeks, police have no suspects.
