Wolverhampton, UK workers picked up and moved a legally parked car so that could paint double-yellow no-parking lines under it. Lisa Williams, 32, had legally parked her Vauxhall Corsa on Frederick Street where there was no warning that any work was about to be done in the area. Workers later had picked up the rear of the car and rolled it forward 20 feet while painting the no-parking lines. Only the intervention of Good Samaritans saved Williams from receiving a parking ticket.
Employees at Origin Media across the street had witnessed the entire event, even taking photographs. They interceded after spotting a meter maid ready to pounce on the blue hatchback.
"I was just gobsmacked," Williams told BBC News. "I came back to the car and thought, I didn't park there, there wasn't a yellow line there before."
According to Williams, it will cost £200 (US $380) to repair a dent caused by the city workers. Wolverhampton City Council is investigating her complaint.
