UK: Speed Cameras Rammed, Burned
A Dagenham, UK speed camera is torched while another in Shrewsbury is rammed by a truck.

A pair of UK speed cameras were damaged or destroyed last week. In Dagenham, anti-camera activists reduced a speed camera to a burnt-out wreck on Rainham Road South. Some locals expressed support for the vigilante action.

"I don't think there should be cameras there anyway," one motorist told the Barking and Dagenham Post newspaper. "It's not an accident black spot so I couldn't care less about it."

Last Tuesday, a black pickup truck rammed a speed camera at 11pm on Ditherington Road in Shrewsbury. The hit left the ticketing device damaged and required a worker to repair exposed electrical wiring. The West Mercia Police Authority is looking for a suspect to charge with hit and run.
